Elim, Limpopo, has a brilliant new landmark shopping Centre. The 18,676sqm first phase of Elim Mall opened successfully to crowds of shoppers on Thursday, 28 March 2013.
Elim Mall became the latest shopping mall to open in Limpopo province, on March 28 2013, bringing Elim consumers a new generation premium-grade retail experience.
Skilled property developer Twin City Development developed the R220 million single-level shopping centre in partnership with local Ribola Property Development. Leon Jacobs Architects designed the mall and Retail Network Services, a full service specialist retail leasing company, successfully crafted the layout, design and tenant mix.

Showing the strong demand for quality retail in Elim, the mall was fully let before it opened.

“Elim Mall will be the ultimate shopping resource serving this significant community. Until now, almost 80% Elim residents had to shop in other cities to gain access to all the products and services they need,” says Gavin Tagg of Retail Network Services. “Elim Mall changes this and brings comprehensive, targeted convenience and fashion shopping to the doorstep of Elim residents for the first time.”

A sizeable 3,500sqm Shoprite and 2,600sqm Boxer lead the 50 retailers at Elim Mall, which include an impressive number of national retail brands to create a relevant and appealing retail attraction to Elim residents.

Elim Mall’s fashion-forward retail mix includes Truworths, Foschini, Edgars, Mr Price, Markham, Jet, Pep, Ackermans, Power Fashion, Identity, Legit, Skipper Bar, Exact, FX, Total Sports, Studio 88, The Fashion People, Egoli Fashion, Chanson, Pallino Italiano, Muzo, Shoe Zone and Rage.

Supporting these retailers are the full banking services of Old Mutual, Nedbank, ABSA Bank, African Bank and Capitec, as well as the ATMs for Standard Bank and First National Bank.

Elim Mall includes a tasty menu of fast food restaurants for the whole family with Chingo’s Chicken, Steers, Debonairs, Old Fashioned Fish & Chips, King Pie, Hungry Lion and KFC.

It also offers great choices for the home from Russels, Electric Express, Sheet Street, OK Furniture, Bears and Ellerines.

Rounding off the Elim Mall retail mix are food and groceries from Boxer and Roots Butchery, as well as several speciality stores. These include Hair & Beauty, Rex Dlamini Pharmacy, Liquor City, Chinese Herbs and Tea, Amber Cell, Voice Africa, Dynamic Vision, Fun Lovers Coaches and V-Tech.

Found at a bustling intersection, with high traffic volumes and excellent exposure, at the cross roads to Louis Trichardt, Giyani and Levubu, Elim Mall brings market-matched retailers to local shoppers.

Elim Mall’s location was chosen to be the most convenient for local shoppers. “It is at an extremely busy intersection where all the commercial activity of Elim and surrounds is present,” says Tagg. This includes the 400-bed Elim Hospital, which is opposite the new mall.

Making shopping easy and accessible to all shoppers, the mall includes a superbly-positioned Engen filling station, a brand-new taxi rank with 61 bays, serving over 110 taxis and a bus drop-off and collection area. The mall is also has 414 parking bays.

Elim Mall is also driving sustainable job creation and economic empowerment in the local community. Besides the jobs created during the construction of the mall, where local sub-contractors were used wherever possible, the mall’s developers encouraged retailers to hire from the local community.

The developers have great confidence in the Elim economy and the strong need for more retail in the Elim community. “There are already many customers and this target market is expected to grow at 4% per annum,” says Tagg.

With this growing consumer demand, the developers have ensured Elim Mall can more than double in size in future, to 45,000sqm.
